Championship Show October 2002 - Judges report Although I've regularly seen most of the dogs being shown, when looking at them as a judge I was disappointed to see how many of them have lost the square spitz outline. The traditional ratio of height equalling length is in danger of disappearing unless we are very careful. Whether you describe the dog as long in body or say that you would prefer longer legs the result is the same, too many otherwise very nice dogs were out of balance. Minor Puppy Dog 4 entries, 3 absent 1st Sandeman's Norbus Fenrir the Fearless (Best Puppy) A solid wolf sable puppy of just six months. Good bone, dark eye, tail tightly curled. Moved well for his age but was less happy to stand still, wanting to sit and look around, however, he was eventually persuaded to stand. Puppy Dog 4 entries, 3 absent 1st Sandeman's Norbus Fenrir the Fearless Junior Dog 2 entries 1st Sercombe's Trelowen PistyllAlthough going through a gangly stage this youngster really impressed. A young dog with the correct height to length ratio. A good tail set, a nice head with the correct stop and wedge shape. Would have preferred a darker eye but the overall impression was of a typical buhund. Moved very well. (reserve CC) 2nd Houston and Stirling's Ch. Arnscroft Di-Hard A very handsome dog in full coat. Lovely head and expression, but would have liked a slightly longer neck. Good tail set. Unfortunately he was crabbing slightly on the move. Special Yearling Dog 1 entry 1st Houston and Stirling's Ch. A. Di Hard Novice Dog 1 entry 1st Sercombe's T. Pistyll Post graduate Dog 5 entries 1st Sercombe's T. Pistyll 2nd Jenkins' Rikarlo Nathaniel A stunning black, with good bone correct wedge shaped head and flat skull, lovely outline. Unfortunately tended to 'tow' his handler when moving and didn't enjoy being gone over. Both faults that time will cure. 3rd Norman's Trelowen Govyn of Maramba Limit Dog 4 entries 1 absent 1st Hussey's Trelowen Pymp for Dawnro Although out of coat this was a typical buhund. A dog that looked as though he could do a day's work. Good head, lovely dark eye, moved well. Would like a slightly tighter curl, but tail was well set. 2nd Jenkins' R. Nathaniel 3rd Norman's T. Govyn of Maramba Open Dog 5 entries 1 absent 1st Hunter's Nor.Ch. Cascilius Kevin Kostner A workman like dog rather than glamorous, with good bone, solid muscle and correct outline. Lean head with flat skull, tight tail curl. Moved with drive. CC BiS 2nd Frost's Ch./Ir.Ch Frostisen Quadroon A lovely dog in full coat, beautiful head, tight tail correctly set. Unfortunately he was more interested in eyeing up the ladies than in moving with his handler, or in showing himself off. 3rd Houston and Stirling's Ch. A. Di-Hard Veteran Dog 3 entries 1st Jacques' Trelowen MynfrewMoved better than many of the younger dogs. A well balanced dog of correct proportions in full coat. Lovely head with dark eyes. A longer tail would make it easier for him to curl it. 2nd Vines' Ch. Trelowen Canmel Litter brother to 1st who also moved really well. Loosing his coat so that he looked slightly moth-eaten, but otherwise a very nice dog with a lovely head, although I would prefer a slightly longer neck. 3rd Beaton's Trelowen Sendal Special Vintage Dog 2 entries 1 absent 1st Vine's Ch. Trelowen Jaudyn Even at 12 years old he is still a wonderful example of the breed. Good head, dark eye, good tail set, correct ratio. Moved well though with a slight hint of arthritis. Minor Puppy Bitch 1 entry 1st Stonton's Chayanda Mystique 8 month old, lightly built puppy, with correct ratio, tight well-set tail, lean head and dark eye. Puppy Bitch 2 entries 1st Hussey's Fullani Froya with Dawnro A lovely bitch in full coat. Moved well, dark eye in good wedge shaped head. Straight back. At first her ears and tail were as though linked by a piece of string, when one was up the other was down; but eventually she got her act together to present a lovely outline. 2nd Stonton's C. Mystique Junior Bitch 4 entries 1 absent 1st Stirling and Williamson's Arnscroft Di-sing with Death A lovely bitch who did everything right. Moved with drive, square outline, tight well set tail, lean wedge shaped head with flat skull, lovely expression. CC 2nd Sercombe's Trelowen Dewhelans Another lovely bitch in full coat who moved well. Tightly curled tail well set on high. Dark eyes in good head. Slight discrepancy in height to length ratio. 3rd Purves' Bulabs Kittiwake Special Yearling 3 entries 1st Stirling & Williamson's A. Di-sing with Death. 2nd Sercombe's Trelowen Dewhelans 3rd Purves' Bulabs Kittiwake NoviceBitch 2 entries 1 absent 1st Sercombe's Trelowen Amma Although the ratio of height to length left a lot to be desired, and her tail could be tighter, she has a good head and moved very well, deserving her first place. Post graduate Bitch 2 entries both absent Limit Bitch 5 entries 1 absent 1 withdrawn 1st Stirling & Williamson's A. Di-sing with Death 2nd Blight's Rosechow River Dancer Beautiful head with dark eye and lovely expression. Good tail set, would have liked longer legs to give her more balance. Moved with drive. 3rd Stonton's Noorabli Classic Sola at Chayanda Open Bitch 4 entries 1st Purves and Hearson's Ch. Rikarlo Skylark from Jumasue Well proportioned bitch in good condition. Lovely dark eye in correct lean wedge shaped head. Well set tail. Spoilt her outline by throwing her head back so that she could gaze up at her handler. res CC 2nd Sercombe's Ch. Trelowen Aquilla A lovely bitch in full coat who moved well, but has slight length/height discrepancy which detracts from an otherwise near perfect bitch. 3rd Stirling's Noorabli Di-na-mite at Arnscroft Veteran Bitch 1 entry 1 absent Special Vintage no entries Brace 2 entries 1 withdrawn 1st Stonton's brace Team 1 entry 1st Sercombe's team Jacqueline Cobb Judge Pictures of the judge and major winners |
