Norwegian Buhund Club Show 16th June 2001 My thanks to the club and exhibitors who made my day by bringing out some lovely dogs to judge. It would seem the girls are not too happy showing in this hall, as they more than the dogs, were loathe at times to use their ears. Hopefully, this is not true for the outside shows! Movement has improved tremendously in this breed in the last 5 years and also far fewer overly refined types present as well, good for you! Temperaments were fine and all the dogs were presented in clean condition. I do hope, however, you will have a look at your dogs molars. A number of them would benefit from having their teeth cleaned for the forthcoming show season. Minor Puppy Dog 1st KNYTSHALL QMFREE. An excellently headed dog, well upon the leg that gave him the balance you require, nice dark eye, compacted body with the correct ratios good black jacket, moved well both ways. 2nd TRELOWEN KNAVA. Well put together young man with a very thick jacket that tended to make him look a little over weight, but this was not the case, he was fine, nicely wedged head, good in forehand, not quite the compactness of winner today, but he is still growing and this will change, positive mover in both directions. 3rd KNYTSHALL QUARK. A young man that needs more time to get it together, well balanced head with a delightful dark eye, ample neck, body nice for age, moved OK but needs more training, tail could have been tighter. Puppy Dog. 1st TAPUI TANE. a dog that has a most wonderful outline, as good as he looks to go over, very pleasing head piece with a delightful expression, really good neck and front quarters, compact body that is firm for his young years, well placed croup, mover good in both directions, covered in a most pleasing wheaten coloured jacket, pleased to award him Best Puppy. 2nd FROSTISEN BLAKE TODJE. Nice black dog that needs to firm up a little more behind, pleasing skull with a complimentary dark eye, good length to neck, good forequarters, body needs a little more depth at present, good forward reach. 3rd TRELOWEN DADER. Needs more time to develop, good head plains with a good wedge, good in neck and forehand, a fraction too long in body at present, tended to move a little close behind, covered in an excellent thick jacket. Junior Dog 1st TAPUI TANE. 2nd VUONOHAAN BALDER AT FOSSFELL. A very nice type full of quality but unfortunately a little too apprehensive, lovely male head with a watchful eye, strong neck good forequarters, pleased in body, strong parallel rear action, good jacket. Special Yearling Dog. 1st ROSSFORT ANDROCLES. A pleasing type and quality, good head piece with a good expression to match, ample neck, a good fronted dog that used it to its advantage but still needs to tighten up some more yet, pleased in body with good substance, nicely angulated rear. Novice Dog 1st KNYSTHALL Q MFREE. 2nd TREOWEN KNAVA Post Graduate Dog 1st ROSECHOW PATRICK. Well balanced dog with plenty of substance, his head could have been slightly more masculine it was well balanced, just enough neck, well angulated forehand, good firm body, would have like a slightly more length of leg, good mover in both directions. Limit Dog 1st FROSTISEN RHETT BUTLER. The best mover in the class , a lot to like about this young man, all male head with good proportion, I would have liked a slightly better eye, firm neck and body, good body ratio and angles, covered in a good quality coat. 2nd KNYTSHALL MORSOM. I thought this dog had a better expression than winner, but not quite as good on the move, excellent ears, good forehand, good ribbing that was well covered, pleasing bone and feet, well covered in a quality jacket. 3rd TRELOWEN DREGYN. A lot to like about this dog, a little too thick in skull for me, however, well proportioned, deep brisket that was well covered, good rear angulation, moved OK both ways. Open Dog 1st CH FULLANI FLEKKEFJORD. Never put a foot wrong all day, portrays a beautiful outline that does not disappoint, what you see is what you get, soundness, quality and breed type, so correct in his movement, Best in Show 2nd IR CH FROSTISEN QUADROON. I dog I like very much, but just didnt have the amitation of the winner, which you need to top this class, a very good mover both going away, coming and in profile, well angulated and in good muscle tone. 3rd TRELOWEN MYNREW a pleasant dog but not quite as firm in movement as winners above, well balanced head of good proportions, more neck could would have give him better balance, well bodied up and firm. Veteran Dog 1st CH TRELOWEN JAUDYN. A beautiful dog of 10 ½ years and in fabulous condition, very sound and full of type, I thought him to be very correct for the breed, an excellent mover for his age, but tended to toe-in slightly in front, a credit to his owner for keeping him in such tip top form. RES BEST DOG 2nd CH SQUIRRELDENE CONVERSANO. Another one full of quality and type, excellently balanced, beautiful skull but unfortunately he was reluctant to use his ears and at times lost his length of neck which spoilt the outline of a most wonderful dog. 3rd CH IR CH FULLANI FINE FLAX AT DAWNRO. A dog I have judged before, very well balanced, he is what I would call a very honest dog indeed, he is a fraction too flared in skull for me, however, one must look at his attributes to appreciate this dog, good firm mover, most excellent condition, a credit to his owner. Minor Puppy Bitch 1st KNYTSHALL Q'EDITHA. A lovely black bitch that was so well put together, very compact bodily, sets up to perfection, very nice feminine head with the darkest of eyes, in gleaming condition, move well both ways for one so young. 2nd KNYTSHALL QUERI. Another good bitch from this same line, not quite as well schooled as winner, you need to work on her more, very feminine head piece again with the darkest of eyes, good ears that where mobile, ample neck, pleasing body that was well covered, moved ok for age but needs more ring training. Puppy Bitch 1st ICHMORAN SHOSHONEAN. The best mover in this class, pretty head nice front assembly, compact body that stood foursquare, plenty of covering, nicely angulated behind that she used on the move. excellent jacket both in colour and texture. 2nd KNYTSHALL QUERI 3rd TRELOWEN AMMA. I felt that she needs to develop a little more in body at present, very pleasing head, good fronted bitch, good ratios in length, very good rear that she used on the move. Junior Bitch 1st LIONLIKE MAXINE. A most beautiful bitch that I would have taken home, unfortunately a little apprehensive, but you still could see the sheer quality and breed type that she possessed, very clean skull and feminine expression, good strong neck and forehand, good compact body that was firm to the touch, strong rear, good mover when settled. 2nd TRELOWEN AMMA Special Yearling Bitch 1ST LIONLIKE MAXINE 2ND ROSSFORT ANNA PURNA. A good type wheaten coloured bitch that requires more training to achieve a better performance, pretty head, ample neck, good front assembly and ribbing, good driving action when settled. Novice Bitch 1st LIONLIKE MAXINE 2nd KNYTSHALL QEDITHA Post Graduate Bitch 1st TRELOWEN FAVERA. An extremely attractive young lady with plenty of distinction, I particularly like the length of leg that gave her an advantage over other exhibits, a very lean skull giving a correct expression that was feminine, first class neck and front, body still needs a little more time to come into full maturity, very good rear. Res Best Bitch. 2nd LIONLIKE MAXINE 3rd ROSSFORT ANNA PURNA Limit Bitch 1st TRELOWEN AQUILLA. A very attractive bitch that was pleasing to the eye, she had the most fabulous body, good feminine head with that delightful expression, good ratios throughout, excellent mover, my only criticism is I would like a fraction more foreleg to give her better balance. 2nd DEWIN GWENIFER AT KNYTSHALL. Another pretty bitch that catches your eye, good body ratios, nicely headed with a good eye but not quite the depth of darkness as winner, pleasing body with a good tail set, moved well in both directions. 3rd FROSTISEN RUBY BERRY. A very nice type of bitch but could have been a fraction leaner in skull, strong adequate neck, good shoulder placement, nicely matured body that was compact, pleasing mover. Open Bitch 1st TRELOWEN SYLVA REDENEK TO TAPUI. An exquisite young lady she had charm and charisma that made you look again at her, extremely well balanced, when stacked gave a picture of balance, very feminine head with an attentive expression, good neck, compact body that gave her a square outline, well proportioned rear, good rear movement but needs a little more work to tighten in front, Best Bitch. 2nd CH RIKARLO SKYLARK FROM JUMASUE. Another good bitch that pleased the eye, she had an excellent fore reach that was very firm, pleasing body that was well covered and firm, stood quite square, excellent croup and tail, good muscle tone. 3rd BULABS POLLY ANNE. Another pleasing bitch, feminine headed with a good expression, ample neck with a good forequarters, compact body that had plenty of substance, firm rear that she used well. Veteran Bitch 1st KNYTSHALL INKA. At twelve years old I thought she looked well, still a positive mover, nicely placed ears, strong neck, good deep body, a little too much covering, good proportioned rear, thick coat and harsh to the touch.
